A wonderful day in London!!
schollo, 13:20h
As promised for a long time Kieron took us to Cambridge yesterday.
He fetched us at 10 o'clock and we couldn't believe it: the weather was awesome!!!!
So perfect conditions for a day in London.
We parked in South London and took the train to London. Firts we went to the Nunhead Cemetery.
It's an unbelievable graveyard. Neraly all the graves are from 1850-1870. But the thing is that they are overgrown by trees and bushes. They are overturned and you cannot readt the inscriptions anymore. Some brasses were even lifted by trees.....
It was awesome, but also a little creepy. I am glad Kieron did not tell any of his ghoststories (he is Irish ;-))
Anyway we had fun walkin around on small trails looking for the graves further in the bushes.
Afterwards we went to Camden Town on the market. On our way there one of the machines at the entrance to the tube took Kierons ticket and did not give it back. He sought assistance and the guy disassembled the whole machine. He found lots of tickets, but not Kierons...... After half an hour he finally got a new ticket and we could move on.
When we arrived it was time to have lunch and we chose Chinese food. Then we had a slow walk over the market. Katharina and I bought some stuff in an African shop..... Buy African souvenirs from Britain?!?!?
Finally we made our way to see the Highgate Cemetery. Karl Marx is burried there.....
After a walk through beatiful Highfield and an absolutely awesome park with a little lake we found the cemetery. Unfortunately they just closed ;-(
By now we were so tired that we decided to go back to Cambridge. So we made our way back to Backfriars and took the train to get back to wherever we left the car.....
Unfortunately there was traffic on the M11...... But Kieron got lost on the way to the M11 and as we arrived there the traffic was gone ;-)
It was a great day with lots of fun and the perfect weather! Thanks to Kieron for taking us there!!!!
